Optomechanical Industrialization Engineer @InSpek
WHO ARE WE
InSpek develops optical microchip sensors capable of measuring multiple molecules, temperature, acidity, oxygenation, and more — directly at the heart of biochemical reactions. Our technology enables smarter production of medicines, food, and energy while minimizing waste. We are a VC-backed, ambitious team pushing the boundaries of what sensors can achieve.
If you thrive in a dynamic, innovative environment and want to shape the future of sensing technology, InSpek is the place for you!
WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING
We are seeking an Optomechanical Industrialization Engineer to drive the industrialisation of InSpek’s sensing systems. You will work on the design, prototyping, and manufacturing of optical assemblies involving our chip-scale sensors, OEM components, and custom-made parts. Your work will ensure the mechanical and manufacturing readiness of components, from R&D tools to production-grade assemblies. Your role will be hands-on and collaborative, working closely with internal teams and external partners to debug, prototype, and manufacture next-generation sensing solutions. You will report to the CTO.
RESPONSABILITIES
Optomechanical design:
- Select and qualify optical components (fibres, lasers, detectors, etc.) for integration into InSpek’s sensing systems.
- Design, assemble, and test optical prototypes, focusing on fiber optics, alignment, and integration with optomechanical assemblies.
- Identify and resolve technical issues in optomechanical assemblies, from component-level challenges to system integration.
- Conduct tests to validate performance, durability, and manufacturability.
- Optimize designs for cost, scalability, and ease of assembly.
Contract manufacturing & Supplier coordination:
- Identify, qualify, and onboard subcontractors and engineering houses for specialized tasks.
- Act as the primary technical liaison with CMOs, contractors, and industrialization partners.
- Define and communicate technical requirements, review proposals, and answer technical queries.
- Manage procurement, timelines, and technical documentation.
- Ensure smooth transitions from prototyping to volume production
Quality control:
- Establish and enforce quality control processes for optical components and assemblies, including optical, chemical, and environmental testing.
- Perform incoming inspections and validate components/assemblies against specifications.
- Work closely with quality teams to ensure compliance with relevant ISO standards.
Team leadership:
- Manage and mentor a small team (1-2 engineers/technicians), providing technical guidance and fostering professional growth.
- Coordinate team activities, set priorities, and ensure timely delivery of projects and milestones.
