Scientist, Molecular Biology @Brink Therapeutics
We usually respond within two weeks
Brink Therapeutics is a venture-backed biotech company specializing in the development of cutting-edge gene therapy tools. We focus on site-specific recombinases, highly efficient enzymes that enable precise DNA modifications—such as inserting, removing, or inverting DNA sequences—without causing double-strand breaks. These recombinases offer a safer, more precise alternative to existing technologies like CRISPR-Cas9, giving them the potential to revolutionize Cell and Gene Therapies and finally push them over the brink of mass accessibility.
By joining Brink Therapeutics, you will become one of our first team members, and experience the thrill of helping to build an ambitious new company harnessing advanced Directed Evolution, deep gene-mining techniques and AI to unlock new possibilities for treating & curing cancers, autoimmune diseases, genetic disorders and beyond!
If you are an innovative scientist or engineer excited about working together to solve hard, longstanding problems to improve patients’ lives around the World, we are looking for passionate individuals to join our team and help shape the future of medicine!
Mission Highlightssw
As a Scientist, Molecular Biology, you will be responsible for helping optimize and execute our advanced in vitro droplet-based recombinase Directed Evolution platform, with the ultimate goals of generating and characterizing in vitro lead recombinase enzyme candidates of high therapeutic utility and generating massive NGS datasets for computational colleagues to extract learnings from.
Responsibilities
- Develop & execute processes for the design and generation of ultra-large, smart recombinase variant libraries (in collaboration with computational scientists)
- Develop & execute in vitro droplet-based recombinase Directed Evolution assays starting from our existing platform (microfluidics expertise not required)
- Develop & execute NGS-based processes for efficient readout of Directed Evolution assays
- Develop & execute in vitro assays for the rapid characterization of key recombinase functional and biochemical properties
- Communicate project status, requirements, risks and mitigation to stakeholders
- Perform critical data analysis (with computational scientist support as needed), maintain detailed electronic laboratory records, present results to stakeholders
- Disclose research innovations to internal stakeholders to secure IP protection
Competencies
You feel at home in the wet lab, designing experiments and generating & interpreting data. You enjoy communicating your findings in a clear and actionable manner, particularly to fellow scientists in both the wet and dry lab. You are conscious of maximizing the value of your research activities by employing good documentation practices. You are a sharp and collaborative trouble-shooter who doesn’t shy away from the hard problems.
