Photonic Design & Layout Engineer @InSpek
Who are we?
InSpek uses optical microchip technology to sense multiple molecules, temperature, acidity, oxygenation, and more. In realtime, directly at the heart of biochemical reactions. Our sensors help produce medicines, food, and energy while reducing waste. We make sensors better, cheaper, and smaller! Do you want to join a young, dynamic, ambitious, and VC-backed startup? Then InSpek is the place for you!
What will you be doing?
InSpek is looking for a full-time integrated photonics expert to advance the design and layout of our PICs in various material platforms and at various wavelengths. You will focus primarily on developing and utilizing software and techniques for the design, simulation, and layout of photonic integrated circuits (PICs).
Responsibilities
- Design, simulation, and optimization of integrated photonic components and circuits
- Layout of PICs: floor planning, layout scripting, DRC mitigation
- Development of PDK building blocks
- Optimize PIC simulations to minimize computational resources and speed up the design workflow
- Contribute to building up the design workflow and maintain high-quality, scalable, well-tested scripts through architecture and code reviews
- Tape-out management: interface with foundries to set up and follow up on tape-outs
- Design for testability: interface with the characterization team to design test structures and support in test planning and data analysis
- Design for manufacturing: develop designs that improve device performance and insensitivity to fabrication variation, interface with the characterization team to define test structures and support in data processing
Competencies
- Strong understanding of integrated (waveguide) optics: PhD or equivalent experience. Industry experience would be a plus
- Experience in photonic simulations using standard tools (e.g. Lumerical, Flexcompute, MEEP…)
- Experience in photonic layout experience (e.g. IPKISS, GDSFactory)
- Experience in photonic fabrication, including a good understanding of foundry manufacturing processes and constraints on the design of photonic devices
- Experience with Design for Manufacturing is a plus
- Experience with EDA tools (Cadence, Mentor…) is a plus
Good communication skills in English (French is a plus
